Prince Harry beats Britney Spears as Spare remains top-selling memoir despite star's claim

Spare by Prince Harry is still the fast-selling memoir of all time after it looked like Britney Spears’ tell-all book The Woman In Me failed to trump him.

The Toxic singer, 41, released her book on October 24 globally and it sold 1.1million copies in its first week in the USA.

Spears shared a statement via Gallery Books, which is a division of her publisher Simon & Schuster.

The statement, as per Variety, read: “I poured my heart and soul into my memoir, and I am grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support.”

According to the outlet, The Woman In Me is reportedly going back to the press for its fourth printing of the book.

However, Prince Harry’s Spare pipped Spears to the post with 1.6million in American sales in its first week.

The news comes after Britney posted on her X, formerly Twitter account, about The Woman In Me becoming the biggest celebrity memoir in history.

After The Woman In Me Dropped last month, Spears informed her 55.1million followers: “It’s happening !!!

“My book is the highest selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1 !!!

“Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive !!! Love you all !!! #TheWomaninMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster [sic].”

Her memoir detailed her controversial 13-year conservatorship as well as her humble Louisiana upbringing, her relationship with Justin Timberlake including her heartbreaking secret abortion, and the intense media scrutiny she faced growing up in the spotlight.

More recently, Spears reached out on X to thank her fans, posting: “Thank you to all the fans who made #TheWomanInMe a #1 @nytimes bestseller … it means the world to me !!!

“Love you all !!! If you haven’t … you can get your copy at http://BritneyBook.com @simonschuster @GalleryBooks.”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s autobiography featured its fair share of revelations including his time in Afghanistan, the aftermath of his mother Princess Diana’s death and references to his frostbitten “todger” during a charity trip to the North Pole.

Spare’s publisher Penguin Random House previously revealed how the book sold 3.2million copies worldwide in its first week across all formats.

The book became an instant bestseller in countries including America, the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Brazil, among many others.

Although Spare may have beaten The Woman In Me in America, figures have yet to be released for the global first week sales for Spears’ memoir which may paint a different picture.

Britney Spears’s memoir, The Woman in Me, published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, is available Oct. 24 wherever books are sold.
