Prince Harry and Meghan's UK image overhaul and why it's happening now

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly hired a new PR expert to help improve their image in the UK – but this could be mainly to help the Duchess of Sussex’s new brand.

Speaking on the latest episode of Palace Confidential, the Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English said that Meghan could be the main reason behind the couple’s wish to reinstall a positive image in the United Kingdom.

Ms English said: “I suspect it’s also got something to do with the big plans that we’re hearing about that Meghan is going to launch this big commercial project.

“I presume this commercial project will have some sort of residence in this country.”

Meghan revealed her new project, American Riviera Orchard, on March 14 – just hours before Prince William took to the stage in London for the Diana Legacy Award.

The soft-launch came with a new Instagram account – under the handle @americanrivieraorchard – and a short video of Meghan cooking and arranging flowers in their multi-million-pound Californian home.

Meghan has not shared any other information about her brand, although it has also been reported that the company is set to coincide with a new cookery show on Neflix featuring Meghan – where she will be making and selling her own products.

It was recently reported that Meghan was on the hunt for a PR guru to help the couple’s image in the UK – with later reports suggesting that the couple had found someone to get onboard with the Sussex brand.

The couple’s popularity – particularly in the UK – has been declining for some time, but it is thought that, along with a PR expert, they were hoping to turn things around.

Although Harry has made several trips to the UK in recent years, Meghan hasn’t stepped foot on UK soil since 2022.

The couple visted Harry’s home country twice together in 2022, once in June and the other in September.

Their two children – Prince Archie, four and Princess Lilibet, two – are also thought to have joined them in June 2022 to celebrate the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Meghan and Harry have been tipped for a visit to the UK later this year, and could be set to bring Archie and Lilibet too.

Although she reportedly previously stated that she never wished to visit the UK ever again, Meghan could join her husband in London in May.

The Duke of Sussex is said to be coming to the UK to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Harry launched the Games in 2014, and is reportedly hoping to celebrate the milestone in the place that it all began.
