Prince Harry and Meghan Markle given stark warning over King Charles's ill health

A royal expert has warned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to “back off” from King Charles as he receives gruelling treatment for his cancer.

The Duke of Sussex made the journey from Los Angeles to London earlier this month to spend just 30 minutes with his father, after he was one of a handful of members of the Royal Family personally informed about the King’s illness before it was made public.

However Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty magazine, has questioned whether the speculation stirred up by this visit can have been good for the King’s condition.

She told Fabulous magazine: “The stress of Prince Harry’s impulsive behaviour cannot have helped the King’s health. He loves his son but never knows what he is going to do next.

“To a man of his vintage – he is 76 this year – the idea of someone flying 11 hours across the Atlantic to see him for less than an hour is madness.”

She added: “The carbon footprint: the cost of first class return flights – over £6,000 – and the mental stress for someone as sensitive as Harry is not what his father could have wanted.

“How much happier he would have been I imagine if Harry had waited a while and then spent some quality time with his dad during his recovery.

“Of course, it was touching of Harry to rush to his dad but in reality, it can’t have done much good for either of them.”

As soon as he landed at Heathrow Harry was rushed to see Clarence House to meet with the King before the latter travelled by helicopter to Sandringham, where he has been convalescing.

The Duke then spent the night at a London hotel on February 6 before flying back to California on February 7 to be reunited with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

In spite of the brevity of the visit it ws the first time that Harry was able to talk privately with his father for many months, having made little time to see him during previous trips to the UK.
