Prince Harry and Meghan branded 'Harvard case study' on 'ultimate brand buzz failure'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been branded a “Harvard case study” on “ultimate buzz failure”, by a leading American business publication.

It comes not long after Harry and Meghan were branded the ‘biggest losers in Hollywood’, by renowned industry title The Hollywood Reporter.

Forbes magazine followed up the article, mentioning that a year that has seen Prince Harry’s Spare book, as well as the couple’s Netflix documentary and Meghan’s Archtype’s podcast and Harry’s multiple USA TV appearances, has still not seen a drive for their business.

‌The business magazine added that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a “compelling case study” for “Harvard Business School on the ultimate in brand buzz failure.”‌

The couple have embarked on multiple ventures since their split from the Royal Family, though the two have suffered in establishing their own brand in the industry.

Jeetendr Sehdev, a contributor who wrote the Forbes magazine piece, continued: “I was puzzled to see how Harry and Meghan stuck to their takedown of the royal family strategy despite the increasing negative feedback from audiences and the media.”

“Audiences around the world expressed clear discomfort at a member of the royal family attempted to cash in on his family (at their expense) to build his own brand, yet Harry and Meghan failed to show the flexibility to manoeuvre their brand.”

Much speculation has surrounded where Harry and Meghan will go next, with their business ventures, but their brand has been dubbed “toxic” by royal insiders.

Rebecca English, royal editor of the Daily Mail, said on this week’s edition of Palace Confidential: “In doing what they’ve done, they’ve lost so much credibility – there’s a lot for them to claw back, and it’ll be really interesting to see how toxic they are or not as a commercially attractive brand.”

It seems unclear exactly where the couple will go with their next business ventures in the coming year, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly decided to “stop” making documentaries and taking interviews that discuss the inner workings of The Firm, as there is “nothing left to say”, according to a source.
