Prince Harry has recently updated his address in records in Britain and changed his official residence to the US.
In documents filed on Monday at Companies House for his sustainable tourism charity Travalyst, the duke, using his full name Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex listed the United States as his “new country/state usually resident”.
The date of change listed is June 29, 2023 – the same day Buckingham Palace confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had vacated their former UK residence, Frogmore Cottage.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to California’s Montecito in 2020 with their children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, a few weeks after they announced their intentions to step back as working royals.
Last year he and Meghan were forced to give up their UK home Frogmore Cottage, leaving them with no permanent base in Britain.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were given Frogmore Cottage as a wedding present by the late Queen Elizabeth but were asked to vacate it last March after the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare.
In February this year, the Duke revealed he has considered becoming an American citizen. Speaking at the site of next year’s Invictus Games in Whistler, Canada, the Duke of Sussex was asked about his life in the United States and whether he could apply to become a citizen.
He said on ABC’s Good Morning America: “I have considered it, yeah.”
When asked what might stop him applying, he said: “I have no idea. It’s a thought that has crossed my mind but it’s not a high priority for me right now.”
