Police swarm to scene after 'shots fired' in horror outbreak of violence in Wolverhampton


Armed police were called to reports of a firearm being discharged in the Wolverhampton area on Saturday afternoon. The incident, which happened on Willenhall Road, is currently being investigated by police.

Following the incident, a 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with a leg wound, but remains stable.

Meanwhile, two men, aged 35 and 25, respectively were arrested hours in Birmingam hours after the shootoing was suspected to have taken place.

Talking about the incident Insp James Bird from West Midlands Police, said: “We understand the concerns around gun crime and run regular operations to disrupt and deter this.

“We will have officers in the area today to offer reassurance to the community and will continue to carry out further CCTV enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”

The police have said there will be extra patrols to provide reassurance to the public.
