Pippa Middleton in line for impressive future title – but it’s not down to Princess Kate

It has been reported that the younger sister of the Princess of Wales, Pippa Middleton, and her billionaire husband, James Matthews, will one day inherit impressive titles. As she is not a member of the Royal Family, Pippa’s title was not granted to her by the late Queen or the King, and instead came about after she married her husband, James Matthews, in 2017.

Pippa’s father-in-law David Matthews is the Laird of Glen Affric in Scotland and owns an incredible 10,000-acre estate in the Scottish Highlands near Loch Ness.

David Matthews, received his title when he purchased the estate in 2008 but he doesn’t use the title as a form of address.

Pippa Middleton’s husband is set to inherit the title one day which means Pippa will be known as Lady Glen Affric.

As reported in OK! Magazine, Australian art historian, Michael Reed, said: “In coming years and particularly as the future Lady Glen Affric, Pippa Matthews will be able to entertain lavishly on her husband’s grand Scottish Glen Affric Estate.”

Speaking on the Royally Obsessed podcast, royal commentator Roberta Fiorito called it an “exciting” prospect that Pippa will take on a “kind of royal title”.

Another royal commentator and author Marlene Koenig, speaking to the Duchess Diary last year, explained that laird is not a peerage title — like baron or duke — and is more like a description of land ownership than a royal title.

On Princess Kate’s wedding day to Prince William, on 29 April 2011, Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton was launched into the spotlight when she took on the role of bridesmaid at their fairytale wedding.

Pippa’s husband is a hedge fund manager, who was formerly a professional race car driver and is worth more than £2 billion according to The Sun’s estimates.

Pippa, 40, and James, 48, announced their engagement in 2016 reportedly following a romantic trip to the Lake District.

The pair — who now have three children together — tied the knot on May 20 the following year at St Marks church, just miles from where the Middletons grew up.

Kate’s sister, recently took on a key role in looking after Princess Kate’s three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, while she recovered from pre-planned abdominal surgery, in hospital.

Speaking to HELLO! about the arrangements, Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty magazine, said: “Pippa has children of her own now, but I’m sure she will help by offering to have the kids round for tea and that kind of thing.”
