Piers Morgan questions Prince William's appearance after royal's 'turbulent' few weeks

Piers Morgan suggested Prince William handled the glamorous event with relative ease despite his inner turmoil.

The Prince of Wales arrived Sunday at the Royal Festival Hall in London for the 2024 BAFTAs, the British equivalent of the Oscars, without Princess Kate.

The Princess of Wales was admitted to the hospital for a planned abdominal surgery in January. In addition, King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer after undergoing scheduled treatment for an enlarged prostate.

William was spotted at the star-studded event mingling with several A-listers from Cate Blanchett and photos showed him shaking hands with David Beckham.

But underneath his relaxed demeanour was a struggle many spectators could not see, Piers has claimed in his latest column.

Writing in The Sun, he said: “I watched him at Sunday night’s Bafta awards, flitting amongst the Hollywood greats with supreme ease and ‘the show must go on’ professionalism, and marvelled at how calm and untroubled he appeared to be despite everything going on behind the scenes in his life.

“Just consider what William’s been through in recent years.”

Piers addressed the royal losing both of his beloved grandparents, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II, as well as his mother the late Princess Diana, in the gaze of the public eye.

The Uncensored presenter suggested he has also lost his only sibling the Duke of Sussex, adding he must be “feeling such rage at the way Harry has betrayed him”. On top of this, having to support his wife through her abdominal surgery which has left her incapacitated for months and coping with the King’s cancer diagnosis.

He continued: “William must be going through considerable private turmoil, but we’d never know it.

“Instead, he just gets on with things without seeking an ounce of sympathy, and with remarkable dignity and humility, even apologising for belatedly deciding to attend the Baftas on his own and for not watching enough of the films due to his wife’s illness.”

The Prince of Wales serves as president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, which presents the annual awards.

William previously skipped the BAFTAs in 2021 following the death of his grandfather, Prince Philip. The year before, he attended the ceremony and delivered a speech calling for diversity among the nominees.
