'One day I will be Queen': Princess Kate playing 'long game' in Harry and Meghan row

This source claims that the controversial statement, including the particular phrase, was insisted upon by the royal couple and finally approved by the Queen.

The statement was reportedly crafted by Jean-Christophe Gray, who had been serving as Prince William’s private secretary for only a few weeks at the time.

However, the insider explains that two senior officials were hesitant to include the phrase in the initial draft due to concerns about perpetuating a sense of rivalry with Harry and Meghan.

However, a second source alleged: “It was Kate who clearly made the point, ‘History will judge this statement and unless this phrase or a phrase like it is included, everything that they have said will be taken as true.’ ”
