Nikki Haley has been publicly mocked by leading Donald Trump allies after an exclusive poll for the Daily Express US showed that a majority of Republicans thought she was “a Democrat in disguise”.
The candidate for the Republican nomination has lost every race she has taken part in so far against Donald Trump as Super Tuesday approaches this week.
While Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy all gracefully pulled out of the contest with overwhelming support going to Trump, Haley has insisted on staying in even after badly losing South Carolina, the state she was once governor for.
A Democracy Institute poll for the Daily Express US revealed that 52 percent think she is a Democrat in disguise while only 41 percent believe she is a genuine conservative. Manwhile, 71 percent want her to quit the race now, up 4 points from last month.
This led to Trump aide Jason Miller to take to X (formerly Twitter) mocking Haley for effectively finishing any hopes she could run for President in the future.

He stated: “Bye-bye 2028…and 2032…and 2036…GOP voters believe Nikki Haley is ‘a Democrat plant’ and should quit Republican race”.
But the was even harsher criticism from former senior White House aide Dr Sebastian Gorka who believes that the Republicans responding in the poll are not far off the mark.
He told the Daily Express US: “It’s obvious. Given the fact that her campaign is courting Democrats to vote in the Republican primaries, and one of her key funders is the billionaire Reid Hoffman who funded the E. Jean Carroll case against President Trump, she is a saboteur for the Biden Administration.”
Gorka went on to suggest that Republicans look at who she became close to after she left the Trump administration.
He said: “Remember this is a woman who palled around with John Brennan right after she left the Trump cabinet. And, as we know, Obama’s CIA Director was the man behind Operation Crossfire Hurricane, the secret surveillance of Candidate Trump and his campaign. She works for those trying to destroy the America First movement.”
Asked why Democrats were voting for her, Dr Gorka compared it to the Brexit deniers in the UK who wanted to undo the democratic vote to leave the EU and regain independence in 2016.
He said: “The Democrat party of today is a cult. It’s not the party of Scoop Jackson of even JFK. They are driven by hatred of America, much like the Remoaners who love Brussels more than Great Britain.”
Ms Haley has said she agrees with many of the Trump policies but complained that “chaos follows him around.”
She recently lost the funding of the billionaire Koch brothers who had hoped she would be able to beat Trump for the nomination.
However, she has insisted she will not give up and remain in the race. Many believe though that her campaign will be finished on Super Tuesday this week when 36% of the delegates are decided.
