Moment romantic man goes on one knee to propose at a Tesco self checkout

Tesco’s self checkout aisle became an unlikely epicentre for romance as a man dropped to his knee to propose.

His stunned partner stood aghast at the checkout point at as yet unknown Tesco.

The romantic man was captured on camera by a passer-by as he dropped to one knee and whipped out a ring – whilst a robotic voice can be heard saying “please choose your bagging area,” in the background.

He waited patiently for an answer as his stunned girlfriend stands aghast, trying to take in what was happening.

As onlookers grasped their mobile phones to capture the cute moment the lady stood in shock before being heard to say “Oh God” and sitting on the checkout.

The man then holds the ring out further, they have an inaudible exchange and she then repeats “Oh my God, oh my God” before he chips in to the customers watching “she still hasn’t said yes by the way!”

She then said “Yes! Of course, of course,” before ushering him up for a big hug and the store erupts into applause.

The clip was shared to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to the account UB1UB2 West London (Southall).

“Did she say ‘unexpected item in the bagging area’?” quipped one person who watched the footage.

Not all wedding proposals are quite as well received, however.

In September last year we reported on a marriage proposal scrawled on a bed sheet and hung on a fence in a town which was brutally shot down by a very unusual response.

Forgoing the traditional down on one knee, the unlucky in love person put up a large white bed sheet in Elgin, Scotland, which read: “Will you marry me, Rachel?”

But hopes of a happily-ever-after seem to have gone up in flames after a respondent, presumably Rachel, made an allegation against the proposer that made it impossible for her to accept.

Using another bedsheet hung next to the original, Racel wrote: “No!!! You slept with my brother.”
