Meghan Markle's simple three-word call to agent after Suits audition that changed her life

Meghan Markle’s career took a pivotal turn when she got the role of Rachel Zane in Suits, a hit legal drama that people are still watching years after its finale.

Data shows that Netflix viewers spent 57.7 billion minutes watching the show last year and now, the BBC has secured UK rights to it.

Gaining fame from Suits brought Meghan numerous opportunities. She made lifetime friends with her co-stars, got a platform for pursuing charity work she cared about, and entered celebrity circles where she met Prince Harry, her future husband.

However, things weren’t all smooth during her initial audition for the series originally called A Legal Mind.

Meghan openly revealed on her blog, The Tig, that she couldn’t remember her lines during the audition and called her agent heartbroken, believing she had lost her chances at the role.

She continued: “Those suits were about to decide my fate for what would end up being known the world over as Suits. I had been given a last minute note about my appearance they wanted more conservative, think hair pulled back and business attire.

“I bought an outfit on my way to the audition for $45 dollars. I still have that black dress in my closet. There was no Tom Ford pencil skirt, nor a pair of Louboutins on my feet, a Prada blouse was many moons away on Rodeo Drive, and I’d had my hair blown out at DryBar because it was close to my house and what I could afford.

“I parked my rattling car and went up the endless floors in the elevator – a time machine, moving me into a new chapter of my life. But I didn’t know it then. All I knew in that moment is that I was nervous, I was hungry, and that a regal looking actress just smiled at me in the waiting room. I had no idea that this late August morning of 2011 would change my life.”

She also had a laugh with Ellen DeGeneres about her early struggles when she returned to the Warner Bros Lot after leaving Royal life.

Meghan said: “I would park on gate three and I would scoot on over and the security guards here would always say ‘break a leg, I hope you get it.’ So driving today was very different.”

After leaving the TV show that made her famous, Meghan got engaged to Prince Harry. They were part of the Royal Family for two years before moving to America.
