Meghan Markle's new brand launched in same hour as Prince William arrives at Diana awards

Meghan Markle has launched her new lifestyle brand on Thursday in the same hour that Prince William arrived at the Diana Legacy Awards in London.

Meghan’s website and Instagram launch for the brand, called American Riviera Orchard, went live on Thursday afternoon, with posts showing the Duchess of Sussex picking flowers and cooking in a kitchen.

The launch came at the same time Prince William appeared in London to make a speech and hand out awards at a ceremony honoring his late mother, Princess Diana.

Prince Harry is also set to appear at the awards separately and speak to recipients via video later on Thursday night.

The Diana Award chooses 20 people each year as winners. It is making its 25th anniversary this year.

Meghan talked of life in the Royal Family in a 2022 interview with The Cut. She said: “There’s literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota.”

Her opinions on social media have differed throughout the years, as she said at a Fortune summit in 2020: “For my own self-preservation, I have not been on social media for a very long time. I made a personal choice to not have any account, so I don’t know what’s out there, and in many ways, that’s helpful for me.”

Last week, Meghan said at the SXSW conference in Texas that she keeps her “distance” from social media “right now, just for my own well-being.”

More information about her new brand is expected in the coming days.
