Meghan Markle Spotify podcast rumour called 'insane' by Hollywood insider

Rumours Meghan Markle did not personally conduct interviews on her Archetype podcast have been rubbished and called “insane” by an industry bigwig.

The collapse of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s £15million Spotify deal appears to have sparked the reports that Meghan was not actually there for the celebrity one-on-ones, reports The Daily Express US.

Bravo executive Andy Cohen told US Weekly: “Of course, I (spoke with Meghan), And she definitely (interviewed me). That’s an insane rumor.

“Her podcast is conversations with people – how would she not have? Of course, she did.”

For the award-winning podcast, the Duchess spoke to several A-listers such as Mariah Carey, Serena Williams and Paris Hilton.

The clarification came from Bravo executive, Andy Cohen, as the Duchess of Sussex’s  deal ended – after she spoke to several A-listers on her podcast – including Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, and Paris Hilton.

The podcast explored different stereotypes affecting women in today’s society. Although it topped Spotify’s charts when it debuted last year, interest began to tail off with the Sussexes and the streaming company confirming a second season would not be released on the platform.

Meghan’s talent representatives at WME said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal: “The team behind Archetypes remain proud of the podcast they created at Spotify. Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform.”

The news came as it was announced that Spotify was laying off around 200 staff who worked with podcasts as the company struggled to make the medium profitable despite its popularity.

When Meghan signed off on her 12th and final episode of Archetypes, she made no mention of a second season. But there has been speculation the Duchess is preparing to re-launch her wellness and lifestyle blog The Tig to rival Gwyneth Paltrow’s own brand Goop.

Since splitting with the Royal Family in 2020, Meghan and Harry embarked on several projects which have netted them a pretty penny.

These include the now defunct Spotify deal and a deal with publisher Penguin Random House – reportedly worth £15m – which saw the release of Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare.

Meghan and Harry also signed a deal with Netflix reportedly worth a staggering £70m which saw the couple release a six-part docuseries last year detailing their relationship, marriage and subsequent split from the Royal Family.
