Meghan Markle sends heartfelt letter with special Christmas gift following poignant visit

Meghan Markle has shown her Christmas spirit by making a generous donation to a German charity.

The Duchess of Sussex donated 4,600€ (£4,000) to the TrebeCafe, also known as Diakonie Dusseldorf, which provides safe temporary housing for homeless young women and girls.

Meghan’s kind act comes after she previously pledged to support the organisation during a European visit with Prince Harry for the Invictus Games.

Alongside the cash gift, the mum-of-two also gave multiple boxes of cosmetics to the young women at the shelter.

Maria Peixoto, who runs the TrebeCafe, told a German news outlet that the women at the shelter are always grateful when they receive luxury makeup products.

She said: “For many of our visitors, mascara or lipstick are hardly affordable luxury products.

“Beautifying yourself also means doing something good for yourself. And the women who visit us and have often experienced bad things can really use this.”

Meghan, through her Archwell Foundation, gave a pre-Christmas present and a heartfelt letter to the TrebeCafe.

She penned the sweet words: “I am firmly convinced that the work of the TrebeCafe is a necessity for the women and girls at risk in Dusseldorf.”

Meghan added more words of wisdom in her note saying: “The comfort, friendship, protection and advice you provide is in stark contrast to the harshness of their normal, everyday lives. Thank you for your commitment to improving their lives.”

The organisation offers more than just a shelter to homeless women. They provide food, clothing, and even a postal address.

Beyond these basics, they offer advice and guidance on various topics to help improve their lives.

These women get useful support from professionals to help with their living situations dealing with authorities, parenting, lifestyle, education, and addictions.

When she visited, Meghan showed her humble side by chopping vegetables alongside other volunteers.

During the visit, she was seen chatting happily with everyone as she helped out in the kitchen.
