Meghan Markle 'regretful' over Prince Harry book after being dubbed 'professional whiner'

Meghan Markle is reportedly being “left with regrets” over Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.

It has been reported that the Duchess of Sussex is wishing she was “more hands-on or involved” in the process of the tell-all book.

A royal source has opened up on the theory that the 41-year-old was right there alongside her husband and that Prince Harry was “micromanaged” through the process by the future actress.

The source stated that this theory is “totally wrong” and that Meghan stepped back, letting Harry “get on with it”.

Six months on from the release, Meghan is now rethinking her lack of input as the Duchess reportedly sees the implications and especially the label that the pair are “professional whiners”.

Speaking exclusively to Heat, the source said: “Meghan can now see that, whether it’s fair or not, they are being viewed as these professional whiners and it’s not as simple as her distancing herself, because she has to be seen as fully supportive of Harry.

“She’s now regretting that she wasn’t more hands-on or involved when he was putting his book together.”

The source added: “This theory that she micromanaged what he wrote or had any say in the manuscript is totally wrong – it was Harry’s book and she let him get on with it.”

The source added that the same went for Harry’s promotion of Spare, adding that Meghan made no move to “interfere”.

The source said: “The same went for his interviews and promo tours – that was evidenced by the fact she let him do those by himself and made a point not to interfere.”

Despite this, during the first week of release back in January, Spare was named a best-seller in the UK.

By January 17, one week after its release, the book had sold 750,000 copies across all formats in the UK.

This news, which came officially from Transworld, a UK division of Penguin Random House, made Spare the biggest-selling memoir in first-week sales.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have suffered a string of blows in recent months, particularly in their career ventures.

In June, it was revealed that the couple’s multi-million-pound deal with Spotify had come to an end.

The news was confirmed via a joint statement from Spotify and the couple’s company, Archewell.

It was also announced last week that the couple’s docuseries, which was release exclusively on Netflix in December, failed to make the shortlist of nominations for an Emmy Award.
