Meghan Markle 'offers shock olive branch' but Princess Kate 'likely to reject it'

Princess Kate has endured a tough few weeks, however it seems an unlikely ally may be on her side as Meghan Markle has reportedly reached out to her “through back channels”.

The two royal wives have traditionally never been close friends, with Prince Harry’s memoir Spare claiming that Kate had never been welcoming and the two bickered over bridesmaid’s dresses.

The Princess of Wales has been out of action due to ill health, with pressure growing on her as she continues to take time off from royal duties following her abdominal surgery in January.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond explained to OK! that any reconciliation between Meghan and Kate is unlikely as she said: “I don’t think Kate would ever consider Meghan – who spent such a very short time in the royal fold – as an appropriate or qualified person to give her advice or support.

“This is a time for Kate to concentrate on regaining her strength, physically and mentally, and I don’t imagine she would welcome tackling the family rift right now.”

Ms Bond continued: “If Meghan felt like sending a hamper of pampering goodies, or flowers to cheer Kate up, then I expect the gesture would be politely accepted. But I don’t see this latest furore bringing the two women any closer together.”

These comments as royal author Tom Quinn claimed that Meghan could use the recent Photoshop fiasco as a chance to reach out to Kate.

He told the Mirror: “Meghan has reached out several times via back channels to Kensington Palace in an attempt to see if there is any chance of getting on better terms with Kate.
