Meghan Markle may clash with publishers over 'what's best for her' in potential memoir

Meghan Markle may clash with publishers over what to include if she were to pen her own memoir, according to one royal expert.

The Duchess of Sussex has not confirmed plans to write her own book, but many have speculated that she could be set to follow in Prince Harry’s footsteps.

Harry released Spare back in January, with the book quickly becoming Penguin Random House’s best-selling non-fiction in the first 24 hours.

The success of Spare could sway Meghan’s decision to release her own, with royal expert Christine Ross stating that it could have “huge commercial success”.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Ms Ross said: “The publisher knows that people would be dying of curiosity to see what she might reveal.”

She added: “Keeping her comments on the royal family to a minimum would probably benefit her in the long run, but publishers probably want her to reveal a bigger more juicy gossip because that is what really sells.

“I think she will struggle to balance what is best for her and her image, and what the publishers want to sell.”

Due to Meghan’s declining popularity, particularly in the UK, Ms Ross has suggested that she should steer away from her royal association.

She said: “If she stuck to ‘just Meghan’, rather than cashing in further on her Duchess of Sussex title, she might win some favour back from the public as well.”

With mixed reviews, speculation began circulating soon after the release of the final episode over whether a second series would be released.

The couple’s announcement appeared to confirm Archetypes would not return for a second series.

It remains unknown what projects the Duke and Duchess have planned for their multi-million-pound Netflix deal, with this deal still up and running.
