Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Caribbean getaway designed to 'reignite spark'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took a few days to relax and “reignite the spark” as they move into a new phase of their relationship, an expert has suggested.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been under intense pressure since quitting the Royal Family – and as the parents of two children under five, time together can be a challenge.

Love guru Sally Baker suggested jetting off together to the Caribbean would have given the couple the chance to have some “enhanced intimacy” before resuming their busy daily routines.

Baker said: “It’s often said that geography is not the solution when a relationship is experiencing problems or hitting roadblocks.”

“And that’s generally true — moving or traveling to a new destination will not magically resolve underlying issues.

“A trip together to a luxury destination allows you to focus on each other without the distractions of work, chores, social obligations.”

She noted holidays abroad can often offer far more “relationship enrichment” than simple communication.

And for couples who simply need some extra time together away from busy schedules, it’s a great chance to rejuvenate the relationship.

Baker told The Mirror: “Destination holidays are much more effective at relationship enrichment than just talking about problems.

“For relationships that are not in crisis mode, a change of scenery and break from regular routines can provide a beneficial reset and rejuvenation.”

Harry and Meghan have been married since May 2018 and their relationship has had to withstand quite the challenge since.

But the Duchess of Sussex has repeatedly indicated she is not afraid to turn to her husband for support.

A friend of the late Queen and Prince Philip claimed that even before their wedding, Meghan signalled she relied very much on Harry as she prepared to embark on her new life.

Gyles Brandreth claimed in 2022 that the former American actress turned down offers to have Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh show her the ropes of royal life.

Brandreth said: “Meghan said, ‘No, I don’t think I need that, I’ve got Harry.”
