Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a big wish for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but a tragic event stopped them from making it happen.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly wanted to bring their little ones to the UK for a second visit in 2022.
However, the death of Queen Elizabeth II shocked the world and also meant that Prince Harry and Meghan couldn’t fulfill their wish.
According to findings in Prince Harry’s recently lost court case, he planned a family trip between September 2 and 11, 2022. This would have been the second time his kids visited the UK, after their June 2022 trip for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
But following a decision by RAVEC, the group that sorts out security for the Royal Household, to cut security for the Sussexes, the children remained in America.
Harry and Meghan ended up making the Royal journey by themselves. Their stay was made longer because of the Queen’s death on September 8.
Prince Harry may dispute the recent verdict from the court regarding his security. However, Royal author Pauline Maclaran has advised him against such a course of action.
Speaking to Daily Express US, Maclaran, who is a professor of Marketing and Consumer Research in the School of Management at Royal Holloway, University of London, expressed her scepticism about the outcome of any appeal.
She stated: “We must remember that Harry has had a certain amount of success previously, particularly with the hacking case. However, there is no doubt he is not having a good run at present, although I think he is likely to appeal over the recent decision on his level of security in the UK.”
She added: “I don’t think he is assessing the British public’s mood well in that if he were to win this case eventually, there would be a lot of angry feelings about the (mis)use of taxpayers’ money.”
She also forecasted the potential backlash against royals in general due to their spending funded by the public, stating: “Indeed, this would be a decision that might rebound on the royals more generally as there are often rumblings about their expenditures funded by the public purse… I think it’s highly unlikely that any appeal will succeed.
“For the moment though and perhaps due to his previous success, Harry is likely to continue his crusades both against the press and for his family’s security in the UK as he appears to very motivated by what he sees as quests for justice.”
