Meghan and Harry blasted for 'oversharing' as Royal Family health battles continue

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been blasted for “oversharing” amid the Royal Family’s current health battles.

Many royal fans have caused a stir on social media over the Princess of Wales’s absence from duties – despite knowing that she was set to be away until “after Easter” due to undergoing planned abdominal surgery in January.

The Princess of Wales is said to be “doing well” in her recovery – but Kensington Palace has provided very little information as she continues her recovery in Windsor.

Palace aides were forced to release a statement earlier this week, reiterating that the royal has “a right to privacy” after an influx of speculation on social media regarding her continued absence.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has now said that there are only two people to blame for the public’s “unrealistic expectations” that the royals should be more open and honest – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Speaking on TalkTV, Ms Schofield said: “If I’m being honest with you, I think it’s Harry and Meghan that have overshared over the last few years.

“[They’ve] made our expectations unrealistic when it comes to the amount of information we receive about working royals who are notoriously mysterious.

“That is part of the sparkle, that is part of the reason that we admire them so much and are interested in them because there are typically so many question marks around them and what goes on behind the scenes and in real life.”

The Princess of Wales has not been seen publicly since Christmas Day at the Sandringham estate – where the royals typically spend the festive period.

The Palace confirmed on January 16 that the mother-of-three had been admitted to The London Clinic for “planned” abdominal surgery.

In the same statement, they shared that the surgery had been “successful” but that the royal was set to remain in hospital for up to a fortnight.

Princess Kate was discharged from hospital on January 29. She then travelled home to Windsor to continue her recovery in the presence of Prince William and their three children.

The latest statement, which was released this week, read: “Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands.”

The Palace has not yet confirmed Kate’s official diagnosis, though it is not thought to be cancer-related.

Alongside the Princess of Wales’s health struggle, the King was previously admitted to the same hospital as his daughter-in-law – and was released on the same day after a three-day stay.

Just a week after he was discharged, the Palace shared that the monarch had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer – although it was found during previous tests, it was unrelated to his hospital stay.
