Hawaii fires have laid waste to the historic town of Lahaina in Maui.
The picturesque port town was used as the location of the 2010 drama film Hereafter, starring Matt Damon and Cécile de France.
Part of the film was shot in Lahaina, which now looks nothing like the idyllic spot it used to be before the horrific disaster this week.
Wildfires fanned by hurricanes have burned the town to the ground, leaving over 2,000 people without homes.
At least 36 people have been killed in Maui, officials have confirmed on Thursday.
“Firefighters are still trying to get the fires under control, and our first responders are in search and rescue mode,” US senator from the state Brian Schatz said.
Hollywood star and filmmaker Eastwood closed down part of Front Street in Lahaina in January 2010 to film parts of Hereafter.
He hired around 70 extras from the local area and was the largest filming production Maui had seen since the TV series Crowfoot was filmed there in the 1990s.
Damon was not on set at the time, but the production was filmed less than 40 miles away from one of Eastwood’s properties.
He owns a 1.13-acre, oceanfront manor in Kihei, Hawaii, which is under an hour’s drive away from where the fires are spreading.
It’s unknown when Eastwood made his last visit to the property or if it has been affected by the fires.
However, he was most recently placed in Savannah, Georgia and Los Angeles to shoot his next film, Juror No. 2, with Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.
One celebrity who has been affected is Fleetwood Mac’s drummer Mick Fleetwood, whose nightclub in Lahaina has been destroyed.
“On behalf of myself and my family, I share my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the people of Maui,” he wrote on social media.
“We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days and months and years to come.”
