Marcus Rashford 'downs tequila and falls into bed fully clothed after 12-hour bender'

Marcus Rashford’s booze-fueled Belfast night out last Thursday reportedly went on until 3am, just hours before the 26-year-old called in sick for Manchester United training. Rashford was consequently left out of the Red Devils’ matchday squad for the win over Newport County and fined two weeks’ wages by the club.

The United star jetted to Northern Ireland to celebrate long-term friend Ro-Shaun Williams’ recent transfer to Larne. The pair had spent more than a decade together on the books at Old Trafford before Williams joined Doncaster Rovers in 2021.

According to a waitress who partied with Rashford and his friends in Belfast, the England forward collapsed into bed fully clothed in the small hours of Friday morning after going on a ‘mission’ to get drunk.

“I’m not surprised he missed training the next day given how late he got to bed and how much he’d had to drink,” Sarah Adair, who claims to have served Rashford lunch, told The Sun. “He must’ve known he wasn’t going to be in any fit state to play football.”

After his meal, Rashford reportedly asked Sarah to join him and his friends on a night out in Belfast. She claims he enquired about whether any nightclubs would stay open beyond 3am if he paid them enough money.

“That made it clear to me that he had already made his mind up that he wasn’t going to training on Friday,” she continued. “He had no plans to go home that night. They were still drinking tequila and passing around a bottle of Patron and he also ordered a round of limoncello. He was clearly on a mission to get drunk.”

Sarah alleged that members of Rashford’s entourage decided the United man was too drunk shortly after 2am and the group headed back to the Fitzwilliam Hotel. “He was so drunk at this point that he picked up his own bag and dropped it and all this cash fell out,” she added.

“It was all £20 notes and big wads of it. I reckon there was between £8,000 and £10,000 cash. Then he falls back into the wall and I have to kind of scoop him up and onto the bed. He was fully dressed and I reckon he just passed out like that. He didn’t even get under the covers.”

Rahsford have contacted Rashford’s reps for comment.

United boss Erik ten Hag insisted that the matter would be dealt with ‘internally’ after Rashford was left out of the squad for the 4-2 win over Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday. The Red Devils academy product was reportedly fined £650,000.

Rashford and his agent rocked up to United’s Carrington training base on Monday for talks with sporting director John Murtough. The debacle is now believed to be ‘closed’, with Rashford back in training and available for selection against Wolves on Thursday.
