Man Utd team news: Predicted XI vs West Ham as Erik ten Hag recalls three big names

Goalkeeper – Onana

Andre Onana kept his sixth Premier League clean sheet of the season against Liverpool, making him the joint-leader in the Golden Glove race.

He will have to be at his best again if he’s to deny the attacking might of Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta at the London Stadium.

Defence – Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Evans, Shaw

Diogo Dalot will miss the trip through suspension to West Ham after his controversial red card in the dying embers of last weekend’s hard-fought stalemate on Merseyside.

Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have joined Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia in being ruled out until the New Year through injury in recent weeks.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka should regain his starting spot in Dalot’s absence, with Luke Shaw on the other side after keeping Mohamed Salah quiet last time out.

Raphael Varane was the Player of the Match against Jurgen Klopp’s side, and Jonny Evans was just as formidable alongside the Frenchman. Both should start again.

Midfield – Mainoo, McTominay, Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes is back in contention after missing the trip to Liverpool through a one-match suspension due to accumulating five yellow cards in the Premier League this term.

Kobbie Mainoo caught the eye again on his third Premier League start against the Reds, and it’d be a surprise to see the 18-year-old drop to the bench after no midweek game.

Scott McTominay is likelier than Sofyan Amrabat to keep his place in the side. The Scotsman should start in a more advanced role with Fernandes ahead of Mainoo.

Christian Eriksen could return to the bench after recovering from a knee injury to resume training this week. Casemiro and Mason Mount are expected to be back in mid-January.

Attack – Antony, Rashford, Hojlund

Ten Hag has something of a selection headache in attack. If Marcus Rashford has fully recovered from last week’s illness, he could be in the frame to return to the team.

Alejandro Garnacho snatched the out-of-form forward’s starting spot on the left and has continued to develop nicely this season.

But United need to switch things up, considering they’ve failed to score in their last three games against AFC Bournemouth, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Antony had a strong second half at Anfield, particularly with his defensive work, and should keep his place. Up front, Rasmus Hojlund is still looking for that elusive first Premier League goal.
