Luton boss Rob Edwards says police probing alleged racist comment aimed at Carlton Morris

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards has revealed that police have been informed about an alleged racist comment aimed at Carlton Morris during Tuesday’s win over Sheffield United. The Hatters came from behind to claim all three points at Bramall Lane in an entertaining affair, with Morris making a big impact for the visitors after coming on as a substitute.

The 28-year-old created two late own goals to help Luton over the line but was caught up in a sour turn of events during the closing stages of the match. He complained to the fourth official over an alleged racist comment from the crowd, which Edwards later revealed was quickly reported to police.

“There was an alleged racist comment,” said Edwards after the final whistle. “The police are dealing with that. They have spoken to Carlton and got his take on it, so it is with them now. I have no more comment on it. He is alright. He was, at the time, pretty angry but he seems fine now.”

Blades manager Chris Wilder also confirmed that an investigation was underway, saying: “There was a comment that was made and the referee came over to speak to me and Rob from a racial point of view, which is obviously not great if found to be the case.”
