Liverpool have bargain Bundesliga raid set as Joel Matip blueprint followed

The 23-year-old came through the same academy as Ibrahima Konate and according to Foot Mercato has been dreaming of a move to England and would cost in the region of £12m.

Liverpool have been more than happy to shop in the Bundesliga in the past, with Matip and Konate being successful signings while Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have both enjoyed strong starts to their Reds careers since arriving from Germany in the summer.

Lacroix could be the latest addition as Matip’s injury has left Klopp with only Virgil van Dijk, Konate and Jarrel Quansah to choose from in recent weeks. Van Dijk missed the FA Cup win at Arsenal through illness and Konate’s injury record will be cause for concern despite Quansah’s progress this season.

But Lacroix would ease any fears over a lack of depth at centre-back and Liverpool may be following the same blueprint they laid out in order to land Matip nearly eight years ago.
