Liverpool dealt injury boost just hours before Southampton FA Cup clash

Klopp has since revealed that he was happy to miss out on several high-profile targets as it led to Liverpool acquiring the little-known Endo for around £15million. “This summer we had a few strange things happen in the transfer market, but my god we were lucky,” the 56-year-old said on Tuesday.

“We didn’t know it in that moment, I’m really happy it worked out like that. We obviously realised that other central defensive midfielders don’t want to join Liverpool. You see what happens, and then we found Endo.”

Klopp is expected to use Liverpool’s young players against Southampton. The Liverpool boss turned to the academy stars for fresh legs in the closing stages of the victory over Chelsea. They could be given another chance to prove themselves with Klopp wanting to rest his key men to prevent further injuries.
