Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirms three new injury problems after Man Utd loss

Jurgen Klopp revealed that Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez all picked up knocks during Liverpool dramatic FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester United. The Red Devils left it late to claim a thrilling 4-3 victory over their Merseyside rivals, with Amad Diallo’s winner in the final minute of extra time sending Liverpool out of the competition.

Liverpool led twice but were pegged back on each occasion, with Harvey Elliott scoring what he thought was the decisive goal in extra-time before United hit back. The timing of Amad’s winner meant that Liverpool did not have an opportunity to force the tie to a penalty shoot-out, leaving the away fans heartbroken at the final whistle.

Speaking in his post-match interview with ITV Sport, Klopp revealed that Liverpool had suffered three new injuries during the game with Diaz, Gakpo and Nunez the players in question.

“Now the boys go on international duty, we hope they come back healthy,” said the Reds boss. “Lucho [Diaz] felt his groin, Darwin hamstring. Cody twisted his ankle. They play again in four or five days, it’s crazy. Hopefully we will finish the season in style. I really feel for our people.”
