'King of Chavs' lotto winner's sister who he gave £1m to dies 'after cocaine binge'

The sister of a lottery winner who was given £1million of the winnings has died, it has been revealed.

Michael Carroll won the lottery in 2002 when he was just 19-years-old and was soon dubbed “lotto lout” for his criminal past and later behaviour which included throwing orgies and antagonising neighbours with noisy parties and demolition derbies.

His sister Zoe Carroll, 43, is thought to have suffered a cardiac arrest with reports suggesting it was following a “cocaine binge”.

But the latest tragedy follows a series of misfortunes for him and his family.

Carroll called himself “King of Chavs” after splashing his £9.7million on Hummers and BMWs, as well as cocaine-fulled orgies.

But in 2019, The Sun revealed he had become penniless after spending his fortune, and was back to working a £10 an hour job.

The former binman, now 40, was engaged to Sandra Aitken at the time of his winning when he bought the ticket for £4 in 2002.

After the pair wed in 2003, she left after accusing him of cheating on her with prostitutes.

But the couple remarried in 2021 after friends said he had “calmed down a lot” following his spending splurge.

Carroll had spent £390,000 on his eight-bedroom mansion in 2002 and a further £200,000 on improvements including a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi – but ultimately sold it for £150,000.

At the height of his wealth he bought a holiday house in Spain which he decorated with more than 200 daggers and swords ordered from online catalogues.

His jobs since finding himself back on the dole have included working as a forklift driver in a biscuit factory and a five-year stint as a slaughter man in an abattoir.
