Police officer charged with terror offences 'after posting picture supporting Hamas'

A police officer has been charged with two offences under the Terrorism Act, after allegedly posting pictures on WhatsApp supporting Hamas.

PC Mohammed Adil, 26, who works with West Yorkshire Police (WYP) was charged on Monday (April 29) with two counts of publishing an image in support of a proscribed organisation, specifically Hamas, contrary to section 13 of the Terrorism Act.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in October and November 2023, according to the IOPC.

The IOPC led an investigation, carried out by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, into messages shared on WhatsApp and referred the case to the CPS.
