King Charles will find it “very frustrating” not being able to work as much following his cancer diagnosis, his former butler has claimed.
Grant Harrold, who worked for the King from 2004 to 2011, when Charles was Prince of Wales, branded the monarch a “workaholic” and said “behind closed doors” it must all be “a bit of a muddle”.
He told the New York Post: “Behind closed doors, it’s all a bit of a muddle. Obviously, the King is trying to get better, that’s going to be the big focus.
“I think Charles will find it very frustrating that he’s not able to work as much, I can believe that — I know what he’s like, he’s a workaholic. I’m sure that will be frustrating.”
The Firm has been having a challenging past couple of weeks with two of its senior members, King Charles and the Princess of Wales, out of action, as they undergo treatment for their cancers.
Mr Harrold claimed the latest updates would have caused the Royal Family a “bit of a nightmare” as the “face of the monarchy at the moment is not how it should be”.
He added: “The monarchy is working at 50 percent capacity right now.
“Even though you have all the other royals standing in, it’s not the same. I can imagine it’s a bit of a nightmare behind closed doors for the actual Firm as such.
“The face of the monarchy at the moment is not how it should be.”
