King Charles health latest: Updates as Buckingham Palace makes cancer announcement

King Charles is battling cancer, it has been announced. The monarch informed the nation of his latest health update at 6pm today (February 5).

Buckingham Palace did not specify which type of cancer Charles has, or which stage, but in a publicly released statement it says the cancer was picked up during his recent stint at The London Clinic.

The King spent three days at the Marylebone hospital before emerging, alongside wife Queen Camilla, smiling and waving at crowds. Small updates from Camilla have indicated the monarch was making progress.

But in a statement issued this evening, officials said: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”

The King will “undertake State business and official paperwork as usual”, it has been confirmed, with Charles giving thanks to medical teams for their “swift intervention”.
