King Charles breaks cover as he's seen for first time since Princess Kate's cancer video

King Charles has been pictured leaving Windsor Castle this morning, as he’s spotted for the first time since Princess Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis.

Sitting in the back of a State Bentley wearing a suit, the King is understood to be heading for London.

He has undertaking a reduced workload at the moment, while he undergoes cancer treatment. Charles is continuing with his stately duties, such as his weekly audience with the Prime Minister and reading his Government state boxes.

On Monday, sources said that the monarch is “optimistic” of his recovery and is hoping to attend the Easter Sunday church service this week.

He also has his sights set on Royal Ascot and garden parties at Buckingham Palace this summer.

It comes as Princess Kate bravely revealed her cancer diagnosis in a two-minute long video on Friday evening.

The Princess, 42, says the news came as a “huge shock” and has needed time to process the information and consider the best interests of the couple’s three young children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

She appeared visibly moved in the two-minute long video filmed in Windsor, with noticeable cracks in her voice. But the message struck an overwhelmingly positive tone, and she said: “I am well and getting stronger every day.”

On Thursday, the day before she made the news public, Kate is understood to have had a private lunch with the King at Windsor Castle.

The pair are understood to be supporting one another through their cancer diagnoses and staying in regular contact.
