The Princess of Wales is crossing her fingers that Prince Louis will behave at King Charles’s Coronation on Saturday but she said: “You never know with kids.”
Prince William and Kate took the London Underground to Soho on Thursday, where they shared a pint in the Dog and Duck pub and took the time to meet staff members from local businesses ahead of the upcoming Coronation weekend.
Crowds of people lined the streets for a chance to meet the prince and princess, and after speaking with one woman, Kate revealed she “really hopes” Prince Louis, who has just turned five, will behave at the Coronation.
In 2022, the King’s grandson caught the attention of the press and the public during the flypast at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, where the little royal was seen with his hands over his ears and pulling a face as the Red Arrows jetted across the sky.
The then-four-year-old made a series of hilarious faces throughout the Jubilee weekend, particularly during the Jubilee Pageant, where he was photographed sticking out his tongue and placing his hand over Kate’s mouth, much to the delight of many royal fans.

After greeting the waiting crowds in Soho, one woman asked Kate how her children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis are feeling ahead of the Coronation.
Captured on TikTok, the princess can be heard saying: “They’re looking forward to it. There’s a mix of, sort of, nerves and anticipation and excitement at the moment.”
Kate, wearing a stunning bright red Eponine London coat over a white dress, was then asked if she thought Louis would behave at the Coronation.
Laughing, the princess replied: “I hope so”, while crossing her fingers, before she added: “You never quite know with kids.”
Kate continued: “And good weather. I think it might be a bit wet but it’s typically British if it is.”
Elsewhere during the royal outing, Kate revealed to one well-wisher that she was more nervous ahead of the Coronation than her three children.
One royal fan, Mandy Leifheit, spoke of her exchange with the princess, where she asked her if the children were excited about the historic weekend.
Ms Leifheit, 48, told People Magazine: “I asked if the kids were excited about the Coronation, and she said, ‘They’re very excited. They had their rehearsal yesterday so they knew what they’d expect’.”
The well-wisher added: “She said she’s more nervous than the kids are since it’s such a big event for the kids to be part of. She said Louis will be there and that he’ll remember it.”
The royal couple shocked commuters on Thursday as they journeyed on the Elizabeth Line – launched one year ago by the late Queen Elizabeth II – to head to Soho.
William and Kate jumped on at Acton and rode three stops to Tottenham Court Road, chatting with Transport for London staff and commuters on the train.
When asked about their own plans for the Coronation, Kate said: “Yes, it’s going to be a busy time. We’re getting there. I still feel like we’re trying to get ducks in a row.”
Yesterday, William and Kate were seen at Westminster Abbey with their three children George, Charlotte, and Louis, where they were taking part in an all-important rehearsal for the day itself.
