Jurgen Klopp announcement sees Liverpool ticket prices 'soar to £25,000' for final game

Liverpool fans will reportedly need to shell out £25,000 to sit right behind Jurgen Klopp for his final game at Anfield. The 56-year-old took the football world by surprise on Friday when he announced that he will be leaving the Reds at the end of the campaign after nine years in charge.

Klopp will manage Liverpool at Anfield for the last time when they face Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season in May. Some tickets for the match are reselling on blackmarket websites for as much as £18,000, according to The Mirror, with VAT and service changes upping the bill to £24,480.

The seats in question are in Block L5 at the front of the Main Stand at Anfield, which are situated just behind the Liverpool dugout. They are usually sold by the Reds at face value of just £60, meaning the resale website will bank a profit of more than 40,000 per cent for each ticket.

Tickets in other areas of the stadium are being listed for upwards of £2,000 before VAT, booking fees and service charges are taken into account. It means that non-season ticket holders will be forced to shell out a crazy amount of money to watch Liverpool play their final home game under Klopp.

Liverpool fans will be desperate to bid farewell to their German manager, who has been in the Anfield dugout since 2015 but will be stepping down in the summer. He explained on Friday that he no longer has the energy to devote to the role after nearly a decade in charge, outlining his plan to take a year off before making his next move.

“I cannot just sit around, I will find something else maybe to do, but I will not manage a club or a country at least for a year,” he said. “That’s not possible, I cannot do that and I don’t want to. That’s all.

“It’s such a strange situation because I have to explain that I don’t have energy anymore, but now I’m sitting here and I have energy and I’m buzzing for everything that’s happening here. But because of the relationship we have, I have to think about this. Because nobody will sack me, I have to make this decision by myself.

“At one point the new stand will be completely full. So many wonderful things happened in the time since I’m here, it’s just amazing and I love all that but I will follow that, I will be part of it, I will support it, but not in the main chair anymore from a specific point on.”
