Joe Rogan blasts 'witch hunt' Donald Trump arrests: 'Actions of Banana Republic'

Joe Rogan blasted the “witch hunt” against Donald Trump, claiming the criminal indictments faced by the former President were the “actions of a Banana Republic”.

Mr Trump was hauled back in front of judges yesterday as he faced four criminal charges for his alleged role in the January 6 Capitol riots.

Prosecutors claim he incited the mass brawls while claiming election fraud, with the extent of his alleged crimes carrying the maximum sentence of 55 years behind bars.

He appeared at the hearing in Washington DC on Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty to the allegations he faced.

But Rogan, who has previously been seen as a critic of Trump, lashed out at the treatment of the businessman-turned-politician.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, the New Jersey-born commentator said: “The people that love Trump, they feel like this is a witch hunt, and they feel that all the things he is getting indicted for are b******* anyway.

“Not only does it not work, but it kind of hardens their position that he is being targeted and that these are the actions of a Banana Republic.

“You take your political rival and you arrest him. And specifically, you charge him with things that you are f****** guilty of.”

Rogan referenced how 25 to 30 classified government documents were found in President Joe Biden’s old office in the Penn Biden Center in Washington DC.

Further documents were found between November 2022 and January 2023 at his personal home in Wilmington, Delaware.

They dated back to his time in the Senate and when vice president during Barack Obama’s eight-year stay as president.

Trump has been indicted on similar allegations that he took official documents back to his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Rogan has previously been a critic of Trump and has famously refused to interview him on his podcast, though some say this stance has softened after he was spotted shaking hands with him at a UFC fight in Las Vegas.

Trump’s advisors have also spoken about the potential for him to appear on The Joe Rogan Experience, with one laying out the politican’s admiration for the podcaster.

They told the Daily Beast: “The mere discussion of Donald Trump on a blockbuster podcast like Joe Rogan builds a remarkable audience.

“Perhaps the only person bigger in the new media world than Joe Rogan is Donald Trump and the whole idea that the two of them would be together at long last—it would be an incredible audience.”
