An American has revealed a major reason why she really struggles to enjoy living in the UK at times – and it’s got nothing to do with understanding all the different accents.
The mum, known to TikTok as YorkshirePeach, announced to her 1.1 million followers that she was “in a predicament right now” – in a short video which garnered more than 13,000 likes.
With the caption reading “American in the UK: I cannot STAND this about England”, she proceeded to tell her followers of her “small sized bladder” which leaves her needing to pee regularly.
She said: “I have to urinate terribly, I have the bladder of an ant”. Conversing with her phone camera in an animated fashion, she complained that: “The toilet situation here is an issue for me, right”.
“Right now, I’m at school pick up. The school is there, but I’m British now, so there’s no chance I’m going to ask the school or headmaster if I can use the toilets in the school – that’s never going to happen”.
She continued: “There is a shop just down there – they’re not going to let me use the toilet. There’s a pharmacist – they’re not going to let me use the toilet… a hairdresser – no chance”.
She summed up her frustrations by implying that in America, all of these institutions would let her use the toilet, adding: “I miss toilets being everywhere”.
Then came the dramatic admission, summing up how serious the situation was – “I’m going to have to go behind a bush”.
Suddenly panicking, she pleaded with her British followers to let her know whether doing such a thing would be a “criminal offence”.
Her mind went elsewhere though, and she mumbled that “I am near a school… but I’m going to have to hold it”.
The comments were probably not as understanding as YorkshirePeach had hoped for. The top comment with over 1,600 likes simply pointed out that “this is why people have a safety wee before they leave the house”.
Lisa Short bluntly pointed out that “any supermarket has toilets”, while Karen said “you can go into a school”. Elene suggested “any pub or restaurant or cafe”.
Nevertheless, there was a popular comment with over 1,000 likes which said “the lack of public toilets is an issue in the UK”.
