Harry arrives on commercial flight and will watch from Abbey 3rd row

With King Charles III due to be crowned at Westminster Abbey tomorrow, pollster Sir John Curtice has said Britain’s monarch will be threatened by a lack of enthusiasm, rather than outright antipathy, among some sections of the British public.

The Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyde was commenting on the findings of a YouGov poll published yesterday, which suggested 58 percent of the UK population believe the monarchy was “good for Britain”, down 15 points compared with a similar survey 11 years ago.

The survey, based on interviews with 2,030 people interviewed between April 25 and 26, also revealed significant generational divisions, with 40 percent of people aged between 18 and 24 thinking the nation would be better off with an elected head of state.

Sir John, speaking before a busy night covering the local election results across the UK, told Express.co.uk the research indicated a general lack of enthusiasm among the British public.
