Hamas attacks bear 'Iran's fingerprints' as fears surge over Syrian fighters joining fold

Iran’s “fingerprints are all over” the barbaric attacks from Hamas against Israel, an Army Colonel has said as he warned Tehran could be encouraging its proxy fighters in Syria into the conflict.

Hamas terrorists launched savage attacks against Israel last weekend, with more than 2,000 people already thought to have been killed.

But the terrifying threat of Iran lingers strongly over this conflict – a country that has a long history of training and arming proxy militia groups from Gaza to Lebanon, Iraq and Syria.

Iran’s support of Hamas militarily is well known and Colonel Richard Kemp, a retired British infantry battalion commanding officer who served from 1977 until 2006, has sent a huge warning over the threat the country poses.

He told Daily Express US: “Iran is already directly involved in the Israel-Hamas conflict because Iran funds, arms, equips, and directs Hamas and Islamic State. Iran’s fingerprints are all over this.

“For many years, Iran has been stirring up hatred across the Muslim world against Israel and against Jews.

“We know Iran has been sending in their IRGC fighters into Syria or at least trying to, and that is no doubt to encourage their proxies in Syria to also carry out attacks against Israel as well.”

Meanwhile, a geopolitics expert believes the attack from Hamas against Israel last weekend showed all the hallmarks of being planned by Iran, which has long called for Israel’s destruction.

Kervin AuCoin told Daily Express US: “Iran continues to use proxy forces like Hamas to carry out attacks on various locations. This attack is no different. It has all the signs of Iran’s typical coordinated attacks.

“Iran continues to use proxy forces like Hamas to carry out attacks on various locations. This attack is no different. It has all the signs of Iran’s typical coordinated attacks.

“The fact that it was carried out on multiple fronts with such precision and the surprising nature of the attack gives credence to recent reporting that Iran was behind the attack.”

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei denied his country is involved but Tehran’s mission to the United Nations issued a statement calling the attack “fiercely autonomous and unwaveringly aligned with the legitimate interests of the Palestinian people.”

Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer said the US believes Iran is “broadly complicit” in Hamas attacks in Israel, but at this time, there is no “direct information” linking these to Iran.

He said during an appearance on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’: “What we can be quite clear about is that Iran is broadly complicit in these attacks for having supported Hamas going back decades.

“What we don’t have is direct information that shows Iranian involvement in ordering or planning of the attacks that took place over the last couple of days.

“It’s something that we’re going to keep looking at closely.”
