Arctic Monkeys were forced to cancel a gig in Dublin earlier this week after frontman Alex Turner was hit with acute laryngitis.
And tonight the band are set to headline Glastonbury Festival on the iconic Pyramid Stage.
Fans have been worrying over if the band’s set will be going ahead at Worthy Farm tonight.
After all, the 37-year-old singer hasn’t been seen in public since the Tuesday night concert was cancelled.
Nevertheless, Glastonbury Festival’s very own Emily Eavis has spoken out on what’s happening tonight.
Speaking with the BBC, Eavis said she was confident that Turner would be well enough to perform and that the Arctic Monkeys would headline Glastonbury this evening.
The festival organiser said: “He’s recovering, I’m sure we’re going to be all right. “We’ve got a couple of back-up plans if not. We’ve always got back-up plans for everything.”
Also speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds this morning, she confirmed: “He’s definitely [performing] – they’re on… It was a little bit close there for a minute and we were thinking about whether we should have a serious backup plan in place but no, thankfully they’re on so that is great.”
Meanwhile, a number of trucks marked “Arctic Monkeys” have been parked behind the Pyramid Stage since last night which suggests the band are indeed set to play.
Assuming the gig goes ahead, it will be the third time the group have performed a headline slot at Glastonbury after 2007 and 2013. The only bands to have headlined four times at the festival are Coldplay and The Cure.
