Gael Monfils disqualified from tennis event after injuring official in changing room

Monfils has spoken about how he is reaching the twilight of his career over the past few weeks and thus he will be bitterly disappointed by not being able to compete in Oslo. Though it may not be long until the former world No. 6 takes to the court again, having recently revealed that he intends on playing as many tournaments as possible until he decides to retire. He said: “What I like most is playing for the public and I am aware that I don’t have many tournaments left.”

The Frenchman also opened up earlier this year about the struggles of travelling to different competitions with his wife, and fellow tennis star, Elina Svitolina and one-year-old daughter Skai. He explained: “It would be a lie if I tell you it’s easy. It’s challenging. It’s a different, a different balance. As you just mentioned, we are two players, so it’s challenging. We are very lucky to have help from mums, from nannies. So, you know, we are learning, as well.”
