First-ever 'Florida Man Games' promises gator riding and beer-belly wrestling competitions

The “Florida man” meme has become nothing short of an Internet sensation — and now, a new Olympics-style event is set to take place next year which will celebrate the best, and worst, that the meme has to offer.

According to the event’s official website, the Florida Man Games — set to take place in February 2024 at the Francis Field in St. Augustine — will feature a range of competitions that will pit 16 teams of 5 players against one another.

But rather than compete in the 500-meter dash or the pole vault, competitors will be subjected to races of different kinds.

One race, called the “beer-belly wrestling,” is a sumo style wrestling competition that will feature points for both their bellies and their wrestling ability.

Another race is called “evading the law,” and will feature competitors trying to outrun Florida’s boys in blue.

Other races include pool noodle mud duels, and a “Category 5 Cash Grab” in which competitors will be subjected to hurricane-force winds in order to grab money.

The Florida Man Games will also feature some celebrities, including former American Gladiators stars “Nitro” (Dan Clark) and “Ice” (Lori Fetrick) as referees.

“The Florida Man Games is where the bizarre meets brawn and sanity is optional! This isn’t just a competition; it’s a one-of-a-kind Floridian spectacle!” the competition’s website reads.

There will be other exhibition battles, as well, but the main event will be the “Battle of the Badges,” in which Florida’s policemen will face off in a wrestling match against Florida’s firemen.

To commemorate the Florida Man Games, attendees can even take selfies with alligators.

“The insurance company doesn’t love this, but we don’t care,” reads the competition’s website.
