A former BBC employee mowed down by a bus he got off seconds earlier has been identified.
Alistair Boath was found seriously injured on Glasgow Road in Blanefield, Stirlingshire, Scotland, at around 11.55pm on Monday, July 31.
The 64-year-old, from the nearby Strathblane, could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, reports The Daily Record.
A major police investigation was launched and it was quickly discovered Mr Boath had been struck by a bus and the vehicle was traced.
His heartbroken family have now paid tribute to Mr Boath in a statement released through Police Scotland.
They said: “We are devastated by the loss of Alistair who was well known in the area and was loved by family, friends, and former colleagues at the BBC, where he worked for many years.
“We are asking for privacy at this very difficult time and would like to thank everyone for their kind words.”
A probe into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
Police Sergeant Ruth Aitchison of the Road Policing Unit added: “Our thoughts remain with Alistair’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are continuing with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
