Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag set to receive offer after 'holding talks with another club'

Erik ten Hag’s management team have already held talks with Bayern Munich about joining them if he is sacked by Manchester United, according to reports. The Dutchman appears to be facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford due to the club’s lack of progress since he took charge two years ago.

United’s owners are yet to make a firm call on whether to sack Ten Hag, who remains under contract until the summer of 2025. However, there is a chance he could be relieved of his duties if Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his associates decide that a change is needed before the start of next season.

It seems Ten Hag is already weighing up his other options in the event he is sacked by United over the coming months. His representatives have already held talks with Bayern Munich about the possibility of replacing Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena, according to Sky Germany.

It is said that Bayern have added Ten Hag to their list of managerial candidates after failing to secure the services of former United boss Ralf Rangnick. The German giants reportedly spoke to Ten Hag’s camp a few weeks ago but are yet to hold direct talks with the 54-year-old himself.

Ten Hag is thought to prefer the idea of staying at United as he looks to help them restore former glories following INEOS’ investment in the club earlier this year. However, he is said to be ‘ready’ for Bayern if it becomes clear that he will leave United at the end of the season.

Two other teams are said to have expressed an interest in appointing Ten Hag, with a return to Ajax having been mooted in recent weeks. Reports have suggested that he is a ‘top target’ for the Dutch heavyweights, who will part ways with interim boss John van ’t Schip in the summer.

United are reportedly set to delay their decision on Ten Hag’s future until after the FA Cup final, when they will face Manchester City in a repeat of last year’s fixture. It remains to be seen if victory will be enough to secure his job at Old Trafford or if he will be given the boot regardless of the result at Wembley.

Ten Hag has maintained that he still expects to be in charge at United next season, telling Sky Sports last month: “I don’t have any doubts. I’m just focusing on my job, focusing on this process, in this project. I really love to be here, I’m enjoying it. For me it’s a challenge.

“It will not go always in the right way, it’s not going always the results in the way we wanted but I’m sure we’re in the right direction and we will get where we want to be.”
