F1 LIVE: Christian Horner in two private meetings as Mercedes set for 'radical decision'

The build-up to the new Formula One season continues to be overshadowed by the investigation into Red Bull boss Christian Horner, which is yet to reach a conclusion. Horner is being probed over allegations of inappropriate behaviour, which he denies, following a complaint by a female Red Bull employee to the team’s parent company in Austria.

Horner has been spotted at this week’s pre-season test in Bahrain in spite of the investigation, with Red Bull opting not to suspend him pending the outcome. The 50-year-old will have been left impressed with what he saw on the track on Wednesday as Max Verstappen laid down a huge early marker by going fastest at the end of day one.

The Dutchman was over a second quicker than his closest challenger, Lando Norris, and already looks to be the firm favourite for this year’s Drivers’ Championship honours. However, it was a different story for Mercedes, with George Russell nearly three seconds off the pace after the first day of testing in Bahrain.
