England vs Italy player ratings: Bellingham takes record score but Declan Rice struggles

England have booked their place in next summer’s European championships, courtesy of a morale boosting revenge mission over old foe Italy.

The Three Lions saw their big guns come to the fore, as manager Gareth Southgate once again showed off his riches of talent within the England ranks.

Express Sport runs the rule over the player ratings from Wembley.

ENGLAND (4-2-3-1)

Jordan Pickford 7
More action than usual tonight and sharp enough to deal with most of it. No chance with the goal.

Kyle Walker 7
His pace we know is helpful at the back but we maybe could have seen more of it going forward.

John Stones 6
Lost Scamacca for the goal and otherwise a slight lack of match fitness did show at times. Subbed on the hour mark.

Harry Maguire 6
Distribution early on was a bit haphazard but strong when he needed to be and clearly comforted by Stones’ return.

Kieran Trippier 6
Italy decided to attack the fact he is not a natural left-back and he did struggle at times.

Kalvin Phillips 5
Early booking worst possible start and he was lucky to survive past the 63rd minute after a bad stamp

Declan Rice 6
Barely put a foot wrong this season but did not quite seem at it tonight. More of his passing was required

Marcus Rashford 8
He is struggling for confidence at the moment but when his moment came he nearly burst the net.

Jude Bellingham 9
Won the penalty by sheer force of nature and his charge for the second was a thing of raw beauty.

Phil Foden 8
Seemed to have more purpose than in recent internationals and worked hard in the press to give Italy problems.

Harry Kane 8
A man to bet on from the spot and when clear through on goal. Once again, he’s got us there.

SUBS
Marc Guehi (Stones 63) 6
Jordan Henderson (Phillips 70)
Jack Grealish (Bellingham 84)
