Duchess Sophie rewears 'beautiful' Lily of the Valley dress with stunning embroidery

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, wore a classic Lily of the Valley dress to this year’s Remembrance Sunday service, another re-wear from the royal, which she accessorised with a black veiled boater hat.

The dress, designed by royal favourite Suzannah London, features intricate embroidery of the flower which flows all the way down its length, with a button-down design down its front.

Sophie pinned her poppy badge and a floral badge onto her lapel, as she and the rest of the senior Royal Family paid their respects to military veterans at the Cenotaph in central London.

The Duchess also wore the dress to last year’s service, but this year there was a new addition in the form of her hat, a Jane Taylor London design boater which she wore without its black veil.

Royal fans on Instagram gushed over her look, with one saying: “This dress is too beautiful to be worn only once. I’m glad that she decided to rewear it this year for this occasion.”

Another added: “One of her best dresses.. so regal and the details are perfectly done!”

A third, who was less sold on the hat’s design, said: “I think this coat dress is lovely, but IMO [in my opinion] it’d work better with a plain hat so the embroideries don’t clash.”

Sophie’s outfit was not the only one that attracted attention, as Princess Kate’s earrings paid a sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth.

The statement pearl jewellery worn by the Princess of Wales once belonged to the late Queen, which Kate wore with a Catherine Walker military-style black dress with tassle detailing.

The outfit was also previously worn in 2019, with her striking Philip Treacy hat being worn before in 2012 and 2017, as Kate and Sophie both represented the best of British designers.

Kate was joined on the balcony by Queen Camilla, whereas Sophie stood with Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence – Princess Anne’s husband – and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester on another balcony.
