Duchess Sophie looks ‘exquisite’ in ‘glorious’ bold dresses for Ethiopia visits

The Duchess is currently visiting the country to celebrate the transformative work of the International eye care charity Orbis and participate in national World Sight Day festivities on October 12.

Yesterday, on the first day of her trip, Sophie visited the British Embassy for a reception in the garden in support of inclusivity and disability.

For the event, the royal opted for a long-sleeved dress with a drawstring detail by Erdem, costing £808.

The description of the dress reads: “This indigo and white dress will make a versatile addition to your day-to-evening repertoire.

“Cut from soft jersey, it has a straight neckline and long sleeves, and is ruched at the waist for a flattering finish. It is decorated with this season’s Ophelia Vine print, inspired by the poisonous wallpapers of the Victorian era.”

The Duchess opted for a long pendant necklace with some drop statement earrings to complete the look.

Sophie’s blonde hair was neatly tied in a low bun to show off her pendant earrings.

On the second day of her visit, the Duchess of Edinburgh met with young women in Tigray who are learning job skills supported by UNICEF and partners to empower them and enable them to earn an income to support their families.

The royal heard all about how the team are working to provide life-saving services for survivors of gender-based violence.

Sophie opted for the same hairstyle on day two of her trip but went for small stud earrings instead.

The royal wore a gorgeous bright blue dress with flowers in shades of orange-red and pale green.

The dress, by ME+EM retails for £295 and features a tiered effect with long sleeves and a v-neck.

Its description reads: “A bold, electric blue acts as the backdrop to a series of scattered floral motifs in orange, green and red to create our bespoke Bluebell print covering this slim midi dress crafted from lightweight crepe.”

The Duchess paired the bright number with a pair of Penelope Chilvers High Catalina Cotton Espadrilles in the colour stone.

The shoe features a block heel with a velvet ribbon to tie around the ankle, perfect for any occasion.

Taking to Instagram to share their thoughts, user @lou.cartonkelly wrote: “Perfect dress for this visit and she looks great.” User @misssabi said: “This dress is glorious and made for her, absolutely exquisite.”

The Duchess will visit a rural health clinic later this week where sight-saving medical screenings and surgeries are carried out daily.
