Confusion mounts over whether Meghan Markle is wearing Princess Diana’s £18,000 watch

A new image of Meghan Markle has been released in order to promote her podcast and coincide with the re-branding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new website – sussex.com

In the photo linked to a news post on the website, Meghan Markle is seen wearing a sleeveless deep grey polo-neck Toteme dress with her arms crossed, showcasing a beautiful Cartier watch. Alongside the watch, is an additional £5K gold bracelet glittering on her wrist.

Although some believe the watch the £18K watch belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, a royal spectator “does not believe” the watch is actually Diana’s.

Royal enthusiast, @remisagoodboy on social media platform X, wrote: “Personally, I don’t believe her watch today is actually Diana’s but Markle wants you to believe it is.”

The royal watcher has noted previously that Meghan Markle purchased a two-tone Cartier Tank Francaise watch while she was an actor on the hit TV series, ‘Suits’.

Princess Diana “also wore a Cartier Tank Francaise watch”, but “hers was gold” claims the royal enthusiast.

They mention how in the past, whenever Meghan Markle has been pictured wearing her own Cartier watch, it has been confused as the late Princess Diana’s elegant timepiece.

Many believe the timepiece is Diana’s jewellery item with one royal author, Phil Dampier, expressing his doubts about Meghan’s choice to wear the watch.

He told The Sun: “Meghan doesn’t often wear Diana’s jewellery, but to wear it in a photo like this adds to the feeling they are trying to project their royal status.”

Back in 2015, Meghan previously told Hello! Magazine: “When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season – which, at the time, felt like such a milestone – I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version.”

She added: “I had it engraved on the back, ‘To M.M from M.M’ and I plan to give it to my daughter one day.”

This week, Harry and Meghan quietly relaunched a new website and their previous website, Archewell, now automatically redirects to sussex.com.

The news post explained that Lemonada Media, a podcast network, had announced a new creative partnership deal with Meghan, which will distribute the first season of Archetypes and aims to develop a new podcast series with the Duchess.

The new website prominently features the couple’s official Royal titles and includes a photograph of them, with the text ‘The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’, alongside a Royal coat of arms.

The couple’s original royal webpage used to be sussexroyal.com, leaving fans to speculate as to why they have now dropped the word royal from their URL.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit as working royals in 2020, it was stipulated by the UK government that while they could still be known by their titles, they could no longer be known as the Sussex Royal Foundation.
