Colorado couple charged with murder after gruesome remains of missing children found

Colorado police apprehended a couple in connection with the disturbing discovery of two young children who had not been seen alive in nearly six years.

Corena Rose Minjarez, aged 36, was taken into custody on Friday, while her partner, Jesus Dominguez, aged 35, was arrested the next day.

The arrests were made following the discovery of the remains of Dominguez’s children, now identified as three-year-old Jesus Jr. and five-year-old Yesenia Dominguez, who were last seen in the summer of 2018.

While Minjarez is not the children’s biological mother, simply the girlfriend of father Jesus Dominguez, her car was used to stash the little boy’s remains, and she is therefore suspected to have helped in the murder and disposal of the children.

Despite exhaustive efforts, including a home-made missing poster shared on Facebook at the time of the disappearance, authorities confessed they were unaware of the children missing until the gruesome discovery of their remains.

Amid mounting public outcry, both Dominguez and Minjarez were charged with two counts each of murder and abuse of a corpse. Dominguez faced an additional charge of theft of government benefits.

Court records show Domiguez and Minjarez are being held on a $2million bond, with their hearings set to take place on Wednesday.
